Low loader vs tilt-tray
A tilt-tray tilts to ground level so machines drive or winch on — fast and self-contained for smaller excavators, skid steers and mini-loaders up to roughly 8–10 tonnes. A low loader sits low to the ground with fixed or hydraulic ramps, taking taller and heavier machines with a lower transport height — better for tracked gear, wide loads and anything over about 10 tonnes. For long or over-dimensional loads, an extendable low loader spreads the load over more axles.
What fits a low loader
Low loaders carry tracked and heavy wheeled machinery where transport height and weight rule out a tilt-tray. Hydraulic decks and removable goosenecks drop the load angle for low-clearance machines. Most moves under general mass limits run without a permit; anything over-dimensional or over-mass is permitted and piloted as required.
