Oversize & OSOM transport, Kawana

Oversize and Over-Size Over-Mass (OSOM) transport from Kawana Waters for the Sunshine Coast. When a load exceeds general dimension or mass limits it needs an NHVR permit, a surveyed route and the right pilot and escort configuration. We handle the whole package — permit, route, pilots and the move itself.

What counts as oversize

A load is oversize when it exceeds standard dimension limits — width over 2.5m, height over 4.3m, or length beyond standard trailer limits. Over-mass loads exceed axle or gross mass limits. Either way the load is restricted: it can't travel under general access and needs a permit that sets the route, the time of travel and the escort requirement.

The OSOM permit process

We assess the load against NHVR dimension and mass schedules, survey a compliant route (bridge limits, clearances, turn radii, school-zone and curfew restrictions), prepare and lodge the permit, and arrange pilot vehicles and — above the thresholds — police escort. Permits are subject to assessment and approval; we don't quote a move until the route checks out.

Pilot and escort requirements

Pilot vehicle thresholds depend on width, length and overhang. Wider loads need one pilot, then two, then police escort as dimensions increase. We coordinate the right configuration for your load and route so the move is lawful and safe from depot to drop-off.

Subject to assessment

Every oversize move is quoted subject to load assessment and permit approval. Final dimensions, weight and route determine the permit class, escort count and timing windows — and therefore the scope. We confirm all of that before the job proceeds.
